Burnley handed home tie with Premier League rivals Sheffield United in Carabao Cup

Burnley have been drawn at home to Premier League rivals Sheffield United in the Carabao Cup second round.

In what will be the Clarets’ first game of the season, in the week commencing Monday, September 14th, Sean Dyche’s side will host the Blades at Turf Moor, before commencing their league campaign at Leicester City on Saturday, September 19th.

The sides have not met in the cups since January 1993, when the Blades prevailed 4-2 in an FA Cup replay at Turf Moor, after a 2-2 draw at Bramall Lane, where the Clarets had led 2-0 through a brave from Adrian Heath.

In the League Cup, you have to go back to October 1966, when United won 2-0 at Bramall Lane.
