Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope retains place in England squad

As expected, Burnley keeper Nick Pope has retained his place in Gareth Southgate's England squad.

The 28-year-old, who earned his third cap for his country in last month's 3-0 friendly international win over Wales at Wembley, is in the group for the home friendly with the Republic of Ireland, and the Nations League fixtures with Belgium and Iceland.

However, James Tarkowski has again been overlooked by Southgate, having been out of the picture since the 5-1 win in Montenegro in March last year.

Former Clarets Michael Keane and Kieran Trippier - who captained the side for the first time against Wales - are also named.

The England Under 21 squad for the UEFA U21 Euro qualifiers against Andorra and Albania will be announced at 10-30 a.m. on Friday morning, with Dwight McNeil expected to be involved again.
