Chairman Tim Milne-Redhead has been delighted with how the season has started and is looking forward to seeing what the second half has in store.

“We are delighted that the number of players training and playing with us has continued to increase,” he said. “We now have around 175 registered players, from age six through to open age, making us one of the largest girls and ladies clubs in the country.

“We have eight teams playing competitive games each week and additionally three of our younger teams play ‘non-competitive’ matches, where results are not published. Whilst not all of teams are near the top of their Leagues, they have all shown good improvement this season and continue to show high levels of skill and team spirit.”

Tim said the club was actively encouraging coaches and players to play the game in the right way and in the right spirit.

“Two Clarets’ teams were recipients of ‘Fair Play’ awards last season and we continue to be regularly complimented on the way in which our coaches, players and supporters conduct themselves.

“We are fortunate to have a talented and dedicated team of managers and coaches, who give their time freely and without reward, and we are hugely appreciative of their efforts.

“Congratulations to our Under 14s coach, Chris Holt, who gained his FA Youth Award qualification in November. Chris hopes to complete his UEFA ‘B’ licence in the New Year and we wish him well with this.”

As the Christmas break approaches, the club’s senior development squad remains unbeaten, having taken maximum points from their opening nine league games.

The Under 15s have made a strong start in defence of their league title, currently sitting second in the league behind Manchester City.

Having strengthened their squad with some excellent new signings, the Under 13s are enjoying their best season for some time, with their slick passing style being rewarded with some great results.

Having been successful at trials, four of the club’s players are also training weekly at Lancashire FA’s Player Development Centre. In addition, Under 15s midfielder Ella McCamon has been selected for the West Riding FA’s Player Development Centre.

Three of the talented Under 9s squad have caught the eye of coaches at Blackburn Rovers’ Centre of Excellence and are training regularly there, while also continuing to play for Burnley.

Burnley FC Girls and Ladies always welcome new players, of any ability, from age six upwards.
