Burnley FC’s Sam Vokes gets Wales call-up

New Burnley FC signing Sam Vokes has been called up by Wales to take the number of Clarets on international duty next week up to four.

Vokes has been included in a 22-man squad to play Bosnia-Herzegovina in a friendly at Llanelli on Wednesday.

The striker, who joined the Clarets on a permanent basis from Wolves earlier this summer, will miss Burnley’s Capital One Cup opener against Port Vale the previous evening.

Vokes joins Keith Treacy, Martin Paterson and Danny Lafferty on the unavailable list for Eddie Howe, leaving the Burnley boss short of attacking options for the first-round tie at Vale Park.

Danny Ings, who injured a knee at Rochdale on Tuesday night, visited a specialist today for a further assessment of the extent of the problem.
