Burnley FC statement on Eddie Howe

Burnley Football Club last night agreed a compensation package with AFC Bournemouth to allow talks to take place with Eddie Howe over the managerial vacancy at Turf Moor.

AFC Bournemouth manager Howe, along with assistant manager Jason Tindall, will travel to Lancashire this weekend to discuss personals terms.

Speaking after Bournemouth’s 2-1 defeat to Colchester on Friday evening, Howe said: “This is something that has been presented to me and I just found it very difficult to turn this one down.

“There is no reason why I should from a personal and professional point of view.

“It just ticks all the boxes and I found it very difficult after the week’s events to then come to that decision.

“But I felt if I didn’t it would be something I would regret for the rest of my life.

“The opportunity is huge and it is a big challenge, but I am not scared of that challenge.”
