Burnley FC sign Delfouneso on loan from Aston Villa

Burnley have today completed the signing of Aston Villa striker Nathan Delfouneso, on loan until the end of the season.

Birmingham-born Delfouneso, a product of Villa’s Academy, is widely regarded as the club’s brightest young prospect, having won Supporters and Players’ Young Player of the Year for two seasons running,

The pacy 22-year-old completed the ‘double’ after an impressive 2009-10 campaign in which he impressed for both the first team and the reserves, where he scored eight goals.

He also scored in Villa’s FA Cup third and fourth round victories, over Blackburn and Brighton respectively, and grabbed his first Premier League goal with the winner against Portsmouth.

Delfouneso also scored an international goal in a memorable England U21 debut at the Keepmoat Stadium against Greece in March 2010.

This season, he has made 16 appearances for Villa’s first team, including games in league, cup and European competition.

The England U21 international goes straight into Eddie Howe’s squad for the Championship game at Hull City on Tuesday evening.

He will wear the squad number 26 during his spell at Turf Moor.
