Burnley FC pair secure loan moves to AFC Barrow

Burnley duo Joe Jackson and Tom Anderson have secured loan moves to Blue Square Premier side AFC Barrow.

The teenage pair have joined the Bluebirds until January and link up with the management team of Dave Bayliss and ex-Burnley coach Ashley Hoskin ahead of Barrow’s opening league game of the season against AFC Telford on Saturday.

Jackson, who has just started his second season as a professional at Turf Moor, returns to his hometown club for a second loan spell after a three-month stint at the end of last season.

The 19-year-old scored three times in eight appearances for the Cumbrian club before being re-called by the Clarets to make his senior debut as a substitute at Blackpool in April.

And he returns to the Furness Building Society Stadium in top form after scoring a hat-trick for the Clarets’ Development Squad in their 4-0 win at Droylsden last Saturday, when second-year scholar Luke Gallagher was also on target.

Meanwhile, the move will be Anderson’s first away from Turf Moor after coming through the Clarets’ youth ranks.

The big defender was a key member of Burnley’s successful youth team last season and a regular at reserve level before a bout of glandular fever curtailed his campaign at the end of February.

However, the 18-year-old signed a professional contract in the summer and now gets the chance to play senior competitive football for the first time.

The pair will join forces again with former Burnley team-mate Alex-Ray Harvey, who has signed a 12-month deal at Barrow following a successful loan spell from the Clarets last season.
