Burnley FC pair extend loan deals

Young Clarets Wes Fletcher and Kevin Long are to stay out on loan for a further month as they continue their footballing education in League Two.

Frontman Fletcher is to stay with Stockport County until 15 January, with central defender Long extending his deal with Accrington Stanley until the same date.

Fletcher, 19, has played half-a-dozen games for Stockport, scoring once, and produced a starring role on his return to the starting line-up in County’s 3-3 draw against Crewe last Saturday.

“It was important for Wes to get that League experience. Sometimes players go away and come back a different animal and Wes is doing extremely well,” said Clarets’ boss Brian Laws after sanctioning the extended deal.

“I have had good reports. I speak to the manager on a regular basis and we are sending scouts out to watch him, along with a couple of others we have out on loan.”

Long, 20, has started eight games for Stanley since joining the Reds in mid-October and after serving an early ban has become a regular in John Coleman’s back four.
