Burnley FC fans day: photo special

Thousands of supporters turned out at the Burnley Football Club Fan Day to catch a glimpse of the Clarets’ squad in action.

Eddie Howe’s men held an open training session at Turf Moor ahead of Burnley’s season-opening clash against local rivals Bolton Wanderers this weekend.

Around 800 lucky supporters claimed free tickets to line up alongside their Clarets idols as part of the club’s official squad photo.

Eddie Howe and his players came to meet the crowd and took the time to sign autographs for young fans in the James Hargreaves Stand.

Families basked in the sunshine and enjoyed fairground rides, face-painting, five-a-side football and other attractions laid on by the club.

A sea of Claret and Blue erupted into cheers when Eddie Howe led his men out of the tunnel at Turf Moor. New signing Brian Stock was introduced to the crowd just hours after the former Doncaster Rovers midfielder put pen to paper on a two-year deal at Turf Moor.

Bertie Bee warmed up the hundreds of supporters and fired free t-shirts into the crowd.

Eddie Howe then led a training session on the pitch with his men taking part in five vs five games and crossing and shooting practice.

Fans caught a glimpse of Brian Stock in action alongside fellow new boys Jason Shackell, Luke O’Neill, George Porter and Joseph Mills.

Outside, families enjoyed the fun day festivities which included a fairground with waltzers, zorbing and hook-a-duck as well as face painting stalls and a climbing wall.

Five-a-side football games were held as well as a speed-shooting football stand and a bike track. Live music was blasting out from the local radio stage with performances from Ring Ring Round, Adele tribute act Lareena and Clarets Dance. There was even an Army tank parked behind the Jimmy McIlroy Stand.
