Burnley FC complete loan signing of Kieran Trippier from Man City

Burnley Football Club is delighted to announce the arrival of highly-rated Manchester City defender Kieran Trippier.

Trippier, who has represented England at several youth levels, joins fellow Etihad Stadium defender Ben Mee at Turf Moor after agreeing a season-long loan.

The versatile right-sided defender, who came through the Academy at City, has featured in their pre-season games this summer, but has yet to make a competitive appearance.

However, he has gained valuable Championship experience following two loan spells in successive seasons at Barnsley.

Trippier initially joined the Tykes in February 2010 in a loan spell that was cut short by injury. He returned to Oakwell last season, where he made 41 appearances, scored twice and played against the Clarets in both league games.

Trippier, who played a key role in City’s 2008 FA Youth Cup-winning team, has also been capped by England at U18, U19, U20 and U21 level.

He made his first England appearance in 2007, coming on as a substitute in an U18s friendly against Ghana.

The following season, Trippier was a heavily involved with the U19s as they qualified for the 2009 European Championship in Ukraine, where they lost the final to the hosts.

The same year he featured for the U20s at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in Egypt. And in 2010 he received his maiden call to the U21 squad for last October’s European Championship play-off success against Romania.

Trippier joins the Clarets for the 2011/12 season and is expected to feature in the pre-season friendly away to Oldham Athletic tonight (Tuesday).
