Austin, who scored his first two goals of pre-season in the 4-1 friendly win against Sparta Rotterdam at Turf Moor on Saturday, has been the subject of summer-long transfer speculation.

He saw a £4.5m switch to Premier League new boys Hull City collapse after failing a medical, but has continued to be linked with Championship rivals QPR and Nottingham Forest.

Stories emanating on Thursday of Rangers tabling an official bid for the 24-year-old were wide of the mark, and, as the club look to secure him on an extended contract, Dyche said: “I’ve got no thinking other than he’ll be here (on Saturday) unless I’m told different.

“I think he’s been terrific in pre-season. A lot was going on a couple of weeks ago and it’s calmed down and he’s maintained his good work ethic and professionalism and maintained what he is and that’s a solid young man who’s learning the game.

“There were good signs again on Saturday, not just his goals but his general play. I’m happy he’s here.”

Dyche is expected to officially confirm the signing of midfielder David Jones ahead of Saturday’s visit of Bolton.
