The award, which has ben established for six years, is given to clubs following two genuine family visits to the stadium as home supporters.

It takes into account the amount of commitment to fair pricing for young people and work in relation to the ‘Enjoy The Match’ campaign and because this award follows a genuine visit from a real family, whose children are coming to live football for the first time, it is recognised within the industry as the ultimate family accolade.

Commenting on the award to Burnley Football Club, the panel noted: “Judges felt there was enough evidence of a commitment to attracting families to give the award.

“With numerous examples of overall good practice, especially the club shop, steward & staff friendliness and refreshments, the judges felt these were enough to overcome some negative comments with regard to first impressions, which were around limited mascot activity and moderate family stand decoration /activities for younger kids.”

The award judging panel, made up of individual Football League club representatives, supporter representation and independent customer experience reports, examines the family’s feedback from first point of contact to the end of the matchday experience.

The panel aims to reward clubs whose ‘family experiences’ demonstrate not only that they are aware of the needs of our fans of the future, but that they can also deliver when it comes to the match day itself.

Forty seven clubs from across all three divisions of The Football League were given the Award for 2013.
