Jay Rodriguez set the Clarets on their way to a 3-0 victory at Turf Moor before half-time, confidently netting from the penalty spot after Sam Hird fouled Chris McCann.
Martin Paterson headed home a second with six minutes left on the clock and Hird put the ball in his own net in stoppage time to complete the scoring.
