Burnley fail in bid to overturn Trippier red card

BURNLEY’S appeal against Kieran Trippier’s sending off against Charlton Athletic last Saturday has been rejected.

Trippier was dismissed after a goalbound shot struck him on the arm as he stood on the line.

The Clarets claimed that the handball was not deliberate and appealed to the FA accordingly.

However, an appeal hearing on Tuesday upheld the original decision of referee Robert Madley and the defender, an ever-present in the Championship so far this season, will therefore serve a one-match ban and miss the Clarets’ trip to Hull City on Saturday.
