However, the Clarets will still be without injured trio Jack Cork, Matej Vydra and Johan Berg Gudmundsson for the battle against the Blades.

McNeil had appeared in 71 Premier League games on the bounce for Burnley, which is the longest current run of consecutive appearances in the competition, along with Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse, but missed the defeat against Leeds United with a groin injury.

Brady also sat out the trip to Elland Road on Sunday after tweaking his hamstring in the 2-1 win at home to Wolves. He was replaced by Erik Pieters with 20 minutes remaining.

Dyche said: "With the two games in three days we have had to make a judgement call on that. I think they both have a chance so we will wait and see what tomorrow brings.

"We had the fatigue element of two games and what it might do when you are coming out of a minor injury so we made a decision on that.

"They have got a chance I would say for the next one."

The Burnley boss confirmed that midfielder Cork continues to make good progress after being sidelined for six months, but they're still trying to nurse Vydra and Gudmundsson back to full fitness.

"I don't think any of them will figure," Dyche said. "Vyds has got a nick on a muscle in his back, which has taken a bit longer to settle than we had hoped for.

"Corky is making very good progress, but we've still got to make sure that he comes back fully fit because he's been out a while and Johann is just returning to that freedom to go out and play.

"He's had so many niggly injuries that we've made a deliberate decision to take him away from it and allow him more training time and more game time in the reserve games.

"We want him to have that mental freedom to know that his body is 100% and he can just play, free-flowing, sprint, recover, all the things the game needs on top of the technical side. That's a slightly different scenario, but they're all making progress."
