However, boss Sean Dyche has been encouraged by the club's decreasing injury list with a number of players returning to fitness.

Taylor has been missing since the end of December when tweaking his hamstring in a coming together with Sheffield United forward David McGoldrick.

The trip to the capital is likely to come too soon for the ex-Leeds United defender, but Dyche has a strong squad to choose from.

Midfield pair Ashley Westwood and Josh Brownhill returned to Burnley's midfield for the midweek defeat to Manchester United, Johann Berg Gudmundsson got 90 minutes under his belt, Jay Rodriguez and Matej Vydra featured, while Dwight McNeil was back in action.

"There are some good players here, I've always believed in them, despite the noise around transfers," said Dyche. "I've always maintained that when everyone is fit and well and operating, and we're nearly there now, I think we're a good outfit. I think we can take on the challenge of the Premier League.

"There's an in-house competitive spirit and it raises the bar in training and raises the feel of the group because everybody wants a shirt.

"That's how it should be. They are respectful of that, they work hard to get that shirt, and that brings for a healthy group of players trying to succeed.

"Charlie Taylor is a doubt, he's a 'maybe'. Other than that everybody is just about there now. There are a couple searching for that 'true' fitness, that high level Premier League fitness, but they're fit and able. The squad is coming back together now."
