Burnley can stay up - Junior Stanislas

But the 24-year-old feels the Clarets will prosper without him and backs Sean Dyche’s men to stay in the top flight.

Stanislas played and scored against Owen Coyle’s Burnley in their last season in the Premier League, which ended in relegation.

However, the former West Ham wide man insisted: “Last time, maybe with one or two additions, it might have been different.

“But playing with the lads for the last couple of years, I feel their togetherness and mentality might be a bit stronger, and that will only put them in good stead. I certainly hope they stay up, I have a lot of friends there, there are some very good players, and they are a great bunch of lads.

“It will be difficult as I think the Premier League improves every year, but they have every chance.”

Stanislas is hoping to meet Burnley in the Premier League next season, with the Cherries, who are aiming to build on an impressive first season in the Championship.

And he explained the reasons behind his move, sealing a three-year deal: “It’s a season where I need to be playing a lot more regularly, hence the move, and I’m looking forward to it. It was a very difficult decision - I had a good few years with Burnley, and enjoyed my time.

“They offered me the chance of playing Premier League football, which is massive for me - every player wants to play there - but it was a little bit frustrating for me last season, I didn’t play as much as I would have liked to.

“I had a chat with the manager after the season, and he said he would like me to stay and be part of it, but there were no guarantees of regular first team.

“There are none at Bournemouth either, but I felt it was better for my career.”

He added: “I really like Eddie Howe, he brought me to Burnley, and he was a key factor in me going to Bournemouth.

“If there were different circumstances, I might not have made the same decision, but he believes in me.”
