David Edgar’s late equaliser against champions Cardiff City at Turf Moor warded off a third successive defeat.

And, after the later fixtures, it left Burnley four points clear of trouble, with six to play for.

Two of Peterborough, Saturday’s opponents Wolves and Barnsley would have to win both their games, and Burnley lose both theirs, for Dyche’s men to be relegated.

But he is not easing up yet. Asked if the point was enough, he said: “Who knows? I don’t think anyone can call it this year. It’s one more point on the board. It’s as simple as that.

“There are no guarantees this season, that’s for sure, so we’ll be planning and prepping to get ready for the next one.

“It’s more a case of concentrating on what we do and going again.

“The focus is quite clear and it’s the exact same from beginning to end for me – get the next win, that doesn’t change, it’s just the reality of it. All the rest of it is all the noise and interference around it.”

Asked whether it was a fear to get sucked into trouble, Dyche added: “Everyone across the board – managers, coaches, players – are all amazed at what is going on this year.

“I think everyone’s just making sense of it the best they can.”
