Burnley boss Sean Dyche responds to FA Cup loss at home to Bournemouth!

Sam Surridge put the Cherries ahead in the 21st minute at Turf Moor when turning home Jack Stacey's centre.

And former Claret Junior Stanislas paved the way to the last eight of the competition when converting from the spot with just minutes remaining.

Dyche made eight changes for the tie with only Johann Berg Gudmundsson, Dwight McNeil and Matej Vydra surviving from the stalemate at home to Brighton.

"With all the changes we've had to make to try and protect our situation and allow us the strength to carry on in the Premier League it's hard to describe.

"I'm happy of sorts. There were some good performances, there was certainly a lot of effort and commitment to get a win but, inevitably, you're disappointed because we conceded two really poor goals.

"The two centre halves didn't respond to the first situation in the first half and didn't drive back in to defend and with the second one we're chasing the game at that stage.

"It's a soft penalty but, let's face it, if you touch anybody in the box these days it results in a penalty.

"I felt the young lads got on with it and took the task on. What you want is a committed side to continue the good work that is being done generally with that will and demand. They've certainly done that."

The Burnley boss didn't feel there was too much between the sides on the night. Bailey Peacock-Farrell had a relatively quiet evening while Jay Rodriguez squandered a golden opportunity to draw the hosts level.

"We didn't find the quality but we had an amazing moment in the second half to make it 1-1, which changes the feel of the game because we were certainly in the ascendancy," he said.

"Once the whistle blew I thought the team we put out gave it a go, they gave everything, we just couldn't find the key moments.

"Bailey has only had to make one save and I believe that was Dale Stephens heading it at him. There wasn't anything miles wrong on that side.

"We had one that got away from us and those chances are massively important in these games. We couldn't really find the moments we were searching for, but I don't particularly think Bournemouth did either.

"It was a tight game, not a lot in it and they got the better of the margins."
