He was named in the Iceland squad on Friday, for the UEFA Euro 2020 qualifier against Hungary on Thursday, as well as the Nations League games with Denmark on Sunday, and England at Wembley the following Wednesday.

Dyche is happy for him to link up with the national side, rather than stay with his club, and and admits he was close to starting at the Amex Stadium, before turning to Robbie Brady: “It was touch and go, should we and shouldn't we.

“He gets another few days’ training and can go away, and hopefully the extra days he can get fitter.”
