Burnley boss Sean Dyche feels his side were getting the balance right in the Premier League

Only runaway leaders Liverpool have kept more clean sheets in the Premier League this season than Burnley.

And Sean Dyche is still annoyed by the one that got away, as Wolves snatched an undeserved 1-1 draw at Molineux earlier this season from a disputed injury time penalty.

Before the league was postponed indefinitely, the Clarets had registered 11 shut outs, all with league ever present Nick Pope in goal, and he leads the way in the race for the golden gloves, with one more than Dean Henderson of Sheffield United, Liverpool’s Alisson - out injured as Adrian collected two clean sheets - and Kasper Schmeichel of Leicester City.

But Dyche feels the balance of the team has been good in the main this season.

Only the nine sides above them in the table have outscored Burnley, and the Clarets have won by more than one goal on six occasions, already one more than last season, which was up from two the previous season when finishing seventh.

Dyche said: “I’m still aggrieved by the penalty at Wolves - I haven’t let that one go!

"But the balance we’re always searching for - every team is by the way - you want to try and put it in that end, and try and stop it going in the other.

“The rest we can all have opinions on, but they are the basic facts of the game.

“I think we’ve done it well at times, both ends, and other times we haven’t got it right.

“You’re looking for that consistent delivery, and the details within all that.

“Football always sounds easy, but it isn’t when the whistle blows as there’s 11 others trying to stop you doing what you do.“I think we’re pleased with that figure, 11 clean sheets, that’s a healthy total, especially the company we’re in, and trying to score more goals.

“We’ve shown signs of that, there’s been a couple of lean periods, which can happen.

“But I think we’ve had more higher-number wins that previously, 3-0s, 2-0s etc, so we’re trying to adjust the attacking side of it and that seems quite obvious with the individual results we’ve had, while keeping the other end as locked as we can.

“We have had that side opened up at times as well, so it’s the continuation, trying to get the details right at both ends.”
