Burnley boss excited at future of youth team

CLARETS boss Eddie Howe feels that, come what may on Thursday night, Burnley’s youngsters have a bright future with the club.

Terry Pashley’s youth team travel to Blackburn Rovers for the first leg of their FA Youth Cup semi-final, with the second leg to follow at Turf Moor next Wednesday.

And Howe is excited at the prospect of the club’s first appearance in the last four since 1978: “It is a big night, I’m absolutely delighted for them and for the coaching staff.

“They’ve been terrific all season whenever I’ve watched them and I think we’re going to have some terrific players coming through from that youth team, and nothing pleases me more to say that.

“Hopefully they do themselves justice in this game and see how far they can get.”

It will be the players’ and Howe’s first taste of the East Lancashire derby, and he added: “It will be something on a mini scale I suppose, we’ll get a little taster of what it’s like against Blackburn.

“I’m sure it will be feisty. I’m looking forward to it.”
