Burnley boss Dyche hoping to raid loan market

Clarets boss Sean Dyche admits his need for reinforcements is heightened by the close of the loan window in just under a fortnight.

But he is hopeful of landing at least one new face ahead of a packed festive schedule.

The Football League’s emergency loan window closes on Thursday, November 28th, with no more signings permitted then until January 1st.

And with nine games between now and New Year’s Day, Dyche is eager to bolster a small squad for what could be a crucial period of the season.

He continues to look for the right name, at the right time, at the right price: “It is a bit of a broken record but the situation is the same.

“It’s not all down to funds, it’s the alignment of players.

“Funds help but they don’t guarantee anything. It’s more the alignment of situations that suit us, the other club and the player.”

Such a scenario was played out two weeks ago when Sunderland striker Connor Wickham decided to join Sheffield Wednesday on loan, despite being heavily linked with a switch to Burnley.

But with Sam Vokes and Danny Ings in such good form, with 23 goals between them, any incoming forward is not guaranteed a start.

Dyche added: “We’ve been looking anyway, never more so than now because we feel we do need some support.

“It is fair to say that it accelerates when you have got that closing of a window and then a re-opening scenario.

“We have a lot of games coming up before Christmas.

“There’s no evidence to suggest that anyone will get injured, but you’ve got to cover your bases.”

However, he won’t bring players in just for the sake of an extra body: “The player side of things is a constant. I’ve been at a couple of games this week and we’re always monitoring players for now and for in the future because we’ve got to be aware of what comes next as well as what we’re trying to achieve now,.

“But the thirst for signings has to be tempered by still being the right signing.

“It’s still go to be right whichever way you look at it.

“We certainly haven’t got the resources to get three wrong.

“So therefore if we’ve got probably one - maybe two - but probably one (signing) then it’s got to be right.”
