Strikers Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood, and wide players Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Robbie Brady, who all sat out Monday night's 5-0 defeat at Manchester City, will all miss out, although Brady could be back in time for the game at Crystal Palace on Monday night.

And Sean Dyche, who could only name seven of the new allocation of nine substitutes at City, will at least be able to field a full bench, with Phil Bardsley signing a new deal to take him to the summer of 2021, while young midfielder Mace Goodridge is also fully fit.

Dyche said: "Woody is doing ever so well, he’s training hard with the physios but not training back with the team yet.

"Johann is the same, and Barnesy is still some way off.

"Robbie Brady is not now but it is a shorter version, it could be next week but we don't know yet.

"Even with all the time we’ve had off, we’ve come out worse than we did before. And I have to admit, that’s a first time for me."
