Burnley are history-makers!

And he isn’t resting on his laurels after a seventh-successive victory at Ipswich Town on Saturday.

Burnley are top of the Championship, despite not spending a penny in transfer fees and selling top-scorer Charlie Austin to title favourites QPR in the summer.

Rangers and Austin are the visitors at Turf Moor on Saturday, first versus second, with the Clarets enjoying their best start to a season since 1897.

Dyche is eager to continue the same habits that have served his side well in the first quarter of the campaign: “The league table is interesting. I don’t pay too much attention to it, but it’s hard not to when you keep getting mentioned as being top of the league.

“But all credit to everyone.

“I talked about paradigm shifts. People talked about what was going on in pre-season and people do question it.

“It wasn’t me. My messages were about the positivity in the group, the players we brought in, the quality they’ve got, young players developing, Sam Vokes improving, Danny Ings improving, Tripps still improving as a player. I still speak to Duffo about things I think he can add to his game. There are a lot of good things going on behind the scenes.

“But it has to continue, we have to keep working hard because it’s a really tough division.

“So as much as we enjoy what’s going on we don’t get too carried away. But we are enjoying the moment, for sure.”

With 12 of 46 league games gone, and only one defeat, Dyche feels a good start is becoming more than that, however: “You don’t win anything for just having a good start.

“It’s beyond a good start now, just past a quarter of the season, so it’s fair to say there are signs of an ongoing process. But it’s never-ending thing, we’re onto the next one with QPR.

“We have a collective mentality, and some talent I must add by the way, a good tactical shape. All those things added together can make you a powerful force and at the moment that’s exactly what’s happening.”
