Barton's FA hearing is adjourned
Clarets midfielder Joey Barton's FA hearing into alleged betting offences has been adjourned.
The 34-year-old was due at Wembley this morning to face an FA commission, having asked for a personal hearing to answer charges in lieu of 1,260 bets over a 10-year period.
A new date will be set in due course, and, until the commission sits, and any potential punishment is meted out, Barton will be available to play for Burnley.
That means he could be available to face Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, however, he came off with a hamstring problem in the 3-2 defeat at Swansea City on Saturday, as boss Sean Dyche explained: “Joey was struggling with his hamstring a bit, obviously we don’t know what will happen (with the commission), but you can’t risk players on the verge of a possible injury.”
