Astin appointed chairman at the Arbories

At Padiham Football Club's Annual General Meeting last week former player, team manager and coach Shaun Astin was appointed club chairman to work alongside club secretary Alan Smith in trying to guide the Storks out of the North West Counties Football League and back to the Evo-Stik League.

The club’s management committee thanked outgoing chairman Frank Heys who is now taking on another roll within the club for the work he carried out as chairman and welcomed a number of new faces onto the Arbories management committee.

Further Ground improvements are being undertaken during the close season and the Storks first team manager Steve Wilkes is actively working to strengthen his squad of players for next season which kicks-off on August 6th.

Before then the Storks have announced five pre-season friendlies against: Liversage FC (away) on Saturday, July 16th, kick-off 3 p.m; Blackpool Wren Rovers FC (away) on Tuesday, July 19th, kick-off 7-30 p.m; Garstang FC (away) on Saturday, July 23rd, kick-off 3 p.m; Thackley FC (away) on Tuesday, July 26th, kick-off 7-45 p.m. and Morecambe FC X1 (home) on Saturday, July 30th, kick-off 3 p.m.

Finances were once again a hot topic of conversation with the Storks keen to secure a ground sponsor to replace YESSS Electrical, with the two-year agreement ending in May, and form partnerships with other local businesses in the area.

Admission charges for next season will remain unchanged and discussions took place about linking up with a football league club’s youth section.
