"All the group are a little bit wounded," says Clarets chief Sean Dyche

Burnley boss Sean Dyche feels that the international break will have helped some of his injury-hit players get back up to speed.

Both Ashley Barnes and James Tarkowski started the Carabao Cup tie against Manchester City as well as the Premier League loss at the hands of Newcastle United.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson featured as a second half substitute at St James' Park and went on to play for Iceland while Robbie Brady, who was on the bench against the Magpies, represented the Republic of Ireland.

"All of the group are a little bit wounded - not in terms of results - but because we've been missing a lot of players," said Dyche.

"They are getting back, Johann's been getting some more minutes, which is good because that could have been a long one."

Barnes is in line to partner Chris Wood once again when the Clarets take on west Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns on Monday evening.

The pair were on the scoresheet last time out against the Baggies with Barnes opening the scoring with a memorable acrobatic finish.

It marked Burnley's first win at the stadium since 1969. Dyche said: "We'd asked a lot of him [Ashley Barnes] and Tarky so we have had to be a little bit careful. I thought he gave a good account of himself in both games.

"We had to get him off [against Newcastle United] because we're trying to get him properly fit and Tarky is the same. They're not up to their usual standards, but they will get there."
