Erasmus and Holt star in wins

Both Burnley and Lowerhouse picked up victories in the JW Lees Lancashire League on Sunday.

Burnley, fresh from last weekend’s Worsley Cup win over league leaders Accrington, repeated the feat at MyProtein Turf Moor, coming out on top by six wickets.

Accrington finished their overs on 192-7, as professional Janith Liyanage top scored with 87, including five fours and three sixes from 119 balls.

Jon Hayhurst (18) and Jacob Clarke (15) were also among the runs, before captain Ross Brown (15 not out) and Sam Bancroft (23 not out) put on an unbroken 38 for the seventh wicket to take the score out towards 200.

Chris Holt took 3-41 for Burnley.

In reply, Burnley passed the target with nine overs to sparem with just four wickets down.

Professional Asif Zakir hit 39, Holt 31, Qasim Shah 30 and Liam Bedford 19, with Joey Marshall (30 not out) and Matt Roberts (29 not out) putting on an unbroken stand of 60 to see Dan Pickup’s men over the finish line.

Burnley are at Haslingden on Saturday.

Lowerhouse won by 130 runs at Enfield.

The West Enders closed on 207-9, as paid man Ockert Erasmus top scored with 55.

Paddy Martin (33), captain Ben Heap (31), Joe Hawke (28) and Francois Haasbroek (22) also made valuable contributions, as former Lowerhouse man, Enfield skipper Fergus Bailey, took 4-48 and professional Shash Pussegolla 4-50.

Erasmus then took 4-6 and Haasbroek 3-14 as Enfield were all out for 77.

Lowerhouse are at home to Ramsbottom on Saturday.
