The Lancashire Cricket League unveils sponsor

The Lancashire Cricket League are delighted to announce a new sponsorship agreement with Heineken UK Ltd ahead of it’s 120th anniversary.

At January’s monthly meeting of clubs, League Chairman, Mike Bibby, announced that a new sponsorship had been agreed with Heineken UK Ltd commencing on January 1st, 2012, running for three years until December 31st, 2014.

The league will now be known as The Fosters Lancashire Cricket League.

Bibby reported that the agreement with Heineken will cover the League Competition and the Worsley Cup competition.

He said: “We are proud to think that a company as prestigious as Heineken UK were keen to sponsor us in this, our 120th year since formation, especially in this difficult economic climate.

“We are looking forward to working with Heineken to the mutual benefit of both parties.”

Bibby also reported that negotiations are almost complete with a well-known local company who have agreed to sponsor the 20/20 competition.

Details will be announced soon.

Meawhile, in preparation for the new season, champions Lowerhouse have arranged a series of warm-up matches.

First up, on April 7th, the first team are at Morecambe, while the seconds host Ribblesdale League side Ribblesdale Wanderers.

The following day sees the special Surridge Challenge match at Ribblesdale League winners Baxenden.

The same day, April 8th, the West Enders’ seconds are at home to their counterparts from Read.

April 14th sees the first team travel to face Farnworth, with the seconds at home to the Bolton League club’s second team.

The day after, Lowerhouse host Read in the Lancashire Cup, before, on the 21st, travelling to Worsley Cup winners Ramsbottom for the Ron Singleton Trophy - the annual curtain-raiser to the Lancashire League season.

The same day, the seconds host derby rivals Burnley in their final friendly.

BURNLEY Cricket Club’s AGM will be held on Friday, March, 9th, at 8-30 p.m. at the club.
