Respected Burnley cricketer dies aged 57
Phil Astin was considered one of Lowerhouse Cricket Club’s greatest ever players, captaining the first, second and third teams during his long career.
But the father-of-two, who later served as a groundsman at the club, had to be put on a life support machine following the heart attack on Monday.

Hide AdBut sadly his family, including his Chris and Nicola, had to take the difficult decision to switch off the life support machine.
A message on the club’s website read: “It is with great sadness that we must report the sudden passing of club stalwart Phil Astin.
“A true club man and one of our finest ever players.”
