In the chase for LCB Knockout Cup qualification, Joey Marshall’s men were set a target of 260-8 finish.

Knocks from Asif Fazal (66), Robbie Davidson (33), Thomas Strickland (33) and Tabassum Aziz (45 not out) took the game away from the visitors as paid man Ravi Jangid struggled to get his teeth into the opposition’s batting order.

The Indian cricketer claimed three wickets during the afternoon though that was at the expense of 87 runs. Andrew Rushton added 2-71.

In reply, Thomas Turner’s half-century was the highlight of Read’s innings, but the Whalley Road amateur was only aided by respective knocks of 22 and 27 from opener Kyle O’Connor and Jangid.

Settle’s Tom Davidson did the damage with the ball as he secured figures of 5-44 while paid man Imran Khalid contributed with 4-49 from a 14-over spell.

Read will look to get back on track on Saturday as they make the short trip to Chatburn Road to face league leaders Clitheroe, with wickets pitched at 1-30 p.m.
