Qasim named player of year

Burnley Cricket Club’s Senior Presentation Evening took place on Friday, with the awards being presented by Jonathan Clare.

Chairman of Cricket, Trevor Pickup, thanked all the players for their efforts during the season, which saw mixed fortunes for the teams.

Special mentions were made to Burnley’s opening batter Qasim Ali, who won player of the year for his batting and fielding skills in his most successful season at the club, and to Bharat Tripathi as Burnley’s leading wicket taker.

The chairman congratulated Burnley’s Under 17s and Under 11s on winning their respective leagues, and the continuing achievements of a thriving junior section were also recognised.

Pickup extended the club’s thanks to all those involved in the organisation and running of the club, whose continued support and commitment is invaluable and greatly appreciated.

3rd XI - Captain: Matt Wall; Batting: Josh Whitehead; Bowling: Josh Whitehead; The Joe Fletcher Trophy: Matthew Lamb; One to Watch: Gus Whitehead; The Peter Lawson Award: Joe Fletcher.
