BURNLEY had a mixed weekend but still picked up a total of 17 points out of a maximum 24.

On Saturday, Burnley entertained Ramsbottom - fresh from their third successive Twenty20 triumph the previous night, on a very wet wicket which proved batting very difficult throughout the game.

The home side started well, with the impressive Cole Hayman (2-15) taking two early wickets, combining with Graham Lalor (2-27 off 15 overs) in a tight opening spell.

The visitors collapsed to 45-6, but some late order hitting from Rob Reed and Andy Hakin propelled the score to 99 all out, with professional Adnan Rasool finishing with 4-44 off 14 overs and skipper Bharat Tripathi taking two late wickets.

In reply, Burnley struggled to 25-4, with only Rasool taking the challenge with 15 before being run out.

The home side fell 29 runs short with Steve Brunt with 14 the only other player in double figures.

On Sunday, Burnley travelled to high-flying Church and fielded first, with Hayman taking another two early wickets, including professional Saeed Anwar for 12.

Rasool bowled economically, claiming 2-53 off 24 overs to keep the run rate down.

Lalor again bowled with nagging accuracy for 2-31 off nine, and Tripathi bagged four late wickets to bowl Church out for 149, which seemed about 30 runs short of a par score.

In reply, Burnley started off slowly with Brunt (19) opening in a partnership with Josh whitehead of 26.

This set the platform for Tripathi (48 not out) and Rasool (48) to see Burnley to victory by five wickets.

The weekend sees two home games against Acccrington on Saturday and Rishton on Sunday.
