Burnley Cricket Club saw the return of prodigal son James Anderson on Saturday.

The Worsley Cup holders hosted the popular Radio 5 live show Not Just Cricket, with host DJ Greg James, the “Burnley Express” Anderson and his former England teammate Graeme Swann.

The recording, which is planned to go out on Christmas Day between 7-9 p.m., had guests, including England star James Taylor and comedian and Phoenix Nights star Justin Moorhouse, and also included members of Merseyside bands The Farm and the Zutons to cap a memorable afternoon.

All subjects were covered including Alistair Cook’s dismissal as England one-day captain, and future of English cricket, as well as a Secret Santa, which included the Kevin Pietersen’s autobiography for Swann, much to the audience’s amusement!

Pietersen’s book spoke of a culture of bullying at the heart of the England team, a claim vehemently denied by Swann and others, before Pietersen was sacked by the England and Wales Cricket Board.

l Burnley will start their quest for a third-successive Worsley Cup success on May 10th, at Bentgate against Haslingden.

Lancashire League champions Lowerhouse open their cup campaign with a trip to Blackburn Road to face Rishton.

The full first round draw is: Church v Ramsbottom; Colne v Nelson; Enfield v Todmorden; Haslingden v Burnley; Rawtenstall v Accrington; Rishton v Lowerhouse.

The Lancashire League season starts in Sunday, April 19th, with Lowerhouse at East Lancashire while Burnley host Bacup.

The sides meet in the Ron Singleton Colne Trophy at Turf Moor on Sunday, April 12th, with a reserve date of Saturday, April 18th.
