Burnley have claimed an historic Lancashire League clean sweep.
Bharat Tripathi’s side sealed ther Lancashire League title on Saturday, after beating Haslingden by seven wickets at MyProtein Turf Moor.
And that triumph means the club have won all four of the league’s senior prizes this season – the Ron Singleton Trophy, Twenty20 title and Worsley Cup and league title.
Even derby defeat at deposed champions Lowerhouse on Sunday could not halt the celebrations.
To add to the record--breaking haul, opening batsman Vishal Tripathi broke Jon Harvey’s 20-year amateur batting record.
Chairman Michael Brown said: “Records are there to be broken and to win all four trophies in a year is a great achievement.
“We are all truly proud of what we’ve achieved. It’s been a real squad effort and a lot of people have contributed. It’s been quite a magical season. What we’ve done is very rare.”
Brown added: “We’ve made memories that will last a lifetime. We will always have this season to talk about whether it’s this year or in 20 years time.
“This is right up there in my career. I’ve had some great experiences and played with some good players but I never won much.
“I’m very proud to be a part of this and have the title role of chairman. We’ve been involved in a season that may never be topped.”
