But Ossie came close to chalking up another win before the Applegarth outfit scraped a one-wicket victory with six balls to spare.

Put in to bat, the visitors made 178-8 with Ramiz Hussein (41) and Ollie Jones (33) sharing an opening stand of 55. Ossie’s total also included 31 extras!

Earby’s victory chances appeared slim when they slumped to 44-5 as Andrew Metcalf and Jon Baldwin shared four wickets.

Richard Craddock kept ‘Ossie’s bowlers at bay with 43 but Earby were really indebted to Ian Clarkson’s 44 off 31 balls, including six boundaries, to see them home.

Saurabh Bandekar was the only batsman to reach three figures in the senior league as Whalley won handsomely at Euxton. The 25-year-old from Mumbai finished unbeaten on 106 - his first ton for the club - as Whalley piled up 235-4 from their 45 overs.

Euxton hardly made a start and Dave Howard’s 5-22 saw the Chorley based outfit bowled out for just 50.

Baxenden, against Brooksbottom, and Salesbury, over Great Harwood, were the day’s other winners.
