The Craig Heaton Memorial Trophy has this year been won by Haider Ali Khan.

The trophy is presented annually in memory of Craig, a promising young cricketer, who tragically died in his sleep at the age of 21.

The trophy is now awarded to the most improved player at the winter nets of the Burnley and District teams of all ages.

This year the Trophy was presented to Haider, who plays for the Under 11’s District team. Haider is 11 years of age and is a pupil at Heasandford County Junior School. He also plays for Burnley Under 11s.

Jim Heaton presented the trophy at the District team’s first game of the season on Tuesday against Hyndburn and District at Lowerhouse.

Mr and Mrs Heaton would like to express their appreciation to Stan Heaton and all the coaches involved in coaching the District teams, and Lowerhouse for the use of the ground, with special thanks to Peter Tighe.
