Annabelle Uttley admits her love of ‘diving all over’ has earned her top honours in cricket.
Blessed Trinity Roman Catholic College student Annabelle, 13, is wicket keeper for Lowerhouse Cricket Club and Read Ladies has now had county and national call-ups.
Annabelle caught the eye last season of the Lancashire Under 13 Performance Squad as wicket keeper and batsman.
Annabelle played throughout the summer against a number of counties and was also called up to the county’s older age group - the Under 15 Performance Squad -on a couple of occasions.
This summer, Annabelle had trials in Malvern in Worcestershire and made the Malvern National Under 13s team as the wicket keeper, selected from players from different counties.
She also played for the National Malvern T20 squad, was selected to play in a 40-over match for the national team against an Under 19s county team and attended the Malvern Cricket Festival in August, where she was one of the leading run scorers for Lancashire over the three days.
“I love playing cricket and being wicket keeper allows me to dive all over the place, it’s fun,” said Annabelle. “My dream is to play for England.”
Annabelle has her final Lancashire Under 15 trial later this month.
Meanwhile, bowler Ella Harrison has bowled them over and has been called up to Lancashire Under 13s squad.
Blessed Trinity Roman Catholic College student Ella, 12, is a bowler for Burnley Cricket Club and has impressed the county coaches.
“It’s the first time I have got into the Lancashire Performance squad and I am really excited,” said Ella.
“I have been working hard and getting one-to-one coaching at Burnley CC and Lowerhouse CC and it has helped me and now I am in the Performance Squad over winter where I can hopefully continue to improve.
“I love cricket, I enjoy keeping fit and it keeps you healthy and I would love to be a famous cricketer.”
