Padiham captain Callum Clarke insists it’s going to take a huge team effort to lift them off the foot of the Ribblesdale Cricket League table.

Padiham entertain Oswaldtwistle Immanuel at the Arbories tomorrow (start 1-30 p.m.) in a bid to close the gap on fellow strugglers Euxton and Cherry Tree.

Kurt Robinson starred in defeat to Barnoldswick with a composed knock of 65 while Kevin Hitchon fought alone in the loss against Brooksbottom when firing 49.

Now Clarke is calling for a collective effort to help lift the club out of the mire.

“We are struggling at the moment,” he said. “There’s just no consistency in our performances and every week we’re relying on individuals rather than combining as a team. We’re just not clicking.”

He added: “There’s a lot of things affecting our performances. We’re lacking a bit of confidence but we’re just not hitting form either.”

Meanwhile, Read will be focussed on retaining second spot when they travel to Ribchester Road to take on Salesbury tomorrow.

Kyle O’Connor’s men slipped to third in the table following a 57-run loss to Settle despite paid man Mohammed Jamal thumping an unbeaten 101.

Victories over Padiham and Euxton saw last year’s champions Barnoldswick climb the table and open up a five point advantage over Read.
