SEVERAL individuals and clubs from Burnley and the surrounding area have made the shortlist for the Lancashire Sports Awards 2012.
Now in its 11th year, the ceremony to be held on Friday, September 28th at Preston’s Guild Hall aims to recognise those who are committed to supporting amateur athletes and clubs.
The MWR Lancashire Sport Awards attracted 400 guests last year - its biggest ever turn out - and this year, fresh from the Olympics, pole vaulter Holly Bleasdale, will be taking part in a live Q&A session, along with Paralympian Graeme Ballard and middle distance runner Helen Clitheroe. The ceremony will be compered by BBC Radio Lancashire’s Graham Liver.
Headline sponsors of the event, MWR Solicitors will support the ‘be inspired’ award and also the ‘community club of the year’ award through its Funds4Clubs scheme.
Partner at the Preston-based law firm and awards judge, Jane Booker said: “Congratulations to the Burnley sports stars that have been shortlisted, they can count themselves as among the highest achievers in the county.”
