Burnley maintained their eight-point lead at the top of the Lancashire League with a 157-run win over Church at MyProtein Turf Moor, as Vishal Tripathi hit his fourth league ton.

Tripathi went on to score a league best 135, as Burnley closed on 280-7.

He smashed 15 fours and four sixes, having shared 152 for the second wicket with David Brown.

Brown added 64, including eight fours, as both he and Tripathi moved past 500 runs for the season.

Professional Chris Holt had fallen for two at 15 before Tripathi and Brown built a match-winning partnership, and Jon Clare (32) and Chris Burton (18) also contributed.

Kamran Basharat was the pick of the bowling with 3-55 for Church.

In reply, Church were dismissed for 123.

Cole Hayman took 3-15, Jhangir Liaqat 3-32, and Holt 4-32.

Sam Holt top-scored with20 for the visitors.

On Friday night, the Worsley Cup finalists reached a second final in the Twenty20 competition, winning by 18 runs at Enfield.

Tripathi was again in form with the bat, hitting 69 from 55 balls, sharing 54 with Holt (22) and 36 with Clare (22), while former skipper Steve Brunt was in blistering form with an unbeaten 47 – 34 of which came off Tiarnan Hamill’s final over, as Burnley finished on 184-3.

Enfield started well in reply as professional Graeme van Buuren (50) and captain Adam Bracewell (35) shared 78 in quick time, before Hayman bowled the pair.

The hosts stood at 97-2 after 10 overs, but fell short after a clatter of wickets, as Holt took 3-41 and Hayman 2-18.

Burnley are at Rawtenstall in Friday’s final.
