Nelson professional Ryan Canning (50) and Tyler McGladdery (73) put on 130 for the first wicket, to set the visitors well on the way to a third win from three games, to take them top of Group C by four points from holders Lowerhouse, who have played a game less.

Russ Bradley also hit an unbeaten 23 as the Seedhill side closed on 156-3.

In reply, Burnley were legged back by eight Nelson bowlers as they were restricted to 133-8.

Things started badly as Dan Pickup was snapped up on the boundary by Sam Halstead off visiting captain Neil Thompson for a duck off only the second ball.

But professional Chris Holt (35) and skipper Bharat Tripathi (32) set about a recovery, as they shared 67 for the second wicket.

However, 67-2 became 78-4, and despite contributions from Aiden Tate (15), Chris Burton (13) and Cole Hayman (12), Burnley finished short, and remain with one victory after three games.
