“Burnley Express” James Anderson equalled the record for the most expensive over in Test history on Monday morning as England’s Ashes defence went from bad to worse.

Australia’s George Bailey cracked 28 runs off Anderson’s 19th over before Australia declared at 6-369, setting England an unlikely 504 for victory.

Bailey’s big-hitting saw Anderson equal South Africa’s Robin Peterson for the unenviable record as the most expensive Test over.

Bailey’s onslaught included three sixes, two fours and a two, as Anderson finished with figures of 0-105 from his 19 overs.

While he and England end the year on a low point, Anderson has, however, been named on the six-man shortlist for the 2013 ICC Cricketer of the Year award, along with Alastair Cook, Hashim Amla, Michael Clarke, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Kumar Sangakkara
