Anderson returns to battle after birth of second child

IT’S not been a bad few days for James Anderson.

Fresh after taking six wickets as England beat Australia in Adelaide last week to move 1-0 ahead in the Ashes series, his efforts saw him move up to third in the World ICC bowling rankings.

And that was topped with the birth of his second child, after he flew 10,000 miles home in time for wife Daniella to give birth to a baby girl weighing 7lb 9oz.

The 28-year-old was due back into Australia yesterday in time for the third Test, starting in Perth in the early hours of tomorrow morning.

He will look to build on his success so far, with only Steven Finn ahead of him as the leading wicket taker in the series so far.

Following his six wickets in the second Test, Anderson overtook Zaheer Khan to claim third spot in the ICC rankings, and now only England teammate Graeme Swann and top man Dale Steyn are in front of him.
