Burnley swimmer Katie shows potential

Katie competed in the age 14-16 years, in her disability category S6 for Freestyle and SB6 for Breastroke, and was then chosen to represent the North West region in the relay at the end of the weekend.

In the 100m Free, Katie swam a massive personal best time and won the gold medal, she repeated her win, with another gold in the 50m Free in another personal best time.

In the 100m Breaststroke, Katie again swam a huge pb, but this time missed out on a medal.

In the relay, she helped the North West to the bronze medal.

Katie is registered with British Swimming as an S6 swimmer. She has been training with Burnley Bobcats since early December, and now trains four-to-five times a week with the squad at the St Peters Centre, Burnley and attends Long Course training with the squad in Manchester.

Head Coach Michael Robinson said of Katie’s performance: “Katie has great potential for the future, and it is fantastic to see her efforts paying off”

In August 2013, Katie aims to attend the World Dwarf Games, which are being held in Michigan, USA.

Meanwhile, in the second round of the Lancashire County Championships at Manchester Aquatics, Katie Rennolds won gold in the 400m freestyle, 200m freestyle, 50m butterfly and silver in the 100 butterfly.

Jamie Sharpley also won gold in the 50m backstroke and 50 butterfly, silver in the 100m butterfly and 100m freestyle and bronze in the 200m freestyle, while Erica Minozzi won gold in the 100m freestyle and silver in the 200m freestyle.

Luke Pickles won bronze in both the 50m and 100m butterfly events, Ella Sheridan won silver in both 200m and 400m freestyle events, and Kerry Holding won gold in the 5m 0butterfly and silver in the 50m freestyle.

Robert Bryce and Dan Fox both won bronze in their 50m backstroke events.
