Singleton looking to end 2014 with 20th win of his career!

The 25-year-old is looking to end 2014 with a flawless record from 20 professional bouts after adding the WBC International Silver and British Masters Silver straps to the International Masters title he already possessed.

Let’s not forget the prestigious English belt that he took from the waist of Curtis Woodhouse at the start of last year either!

And Karl Ince’s pupil is ready to baptise the New Year with a new addition to that growing collection.

With whispers of another lucrative title shot doing the rounds, Singleton said: “I might not have a Christmas this year because there’s talks of a big fight in January. I’ll just be training right through. I’ve even found a gym on holiday in Lanzarote so I can keep ticking over.

“It might not even happen yet but I’ll still have to sacrifice my Christmas. That’s life and it’s what I have to do to get these big fights.

“It’s got to happen for me in 2015. I’m not bothered which title I fight for I just want to mix it with the best and prove myself.”

First, Singleton will hope to round off the Chinese Year of the Horse at a canter when taking on Doncaster’s Adam Jones at Blackburn King George’s Hall on Saturday.

Singleton will concede height and size against his 22-year-old foe, who recently ended middleweight Lewis Taylor’s 14-fight winning streak in a 10-round stalemate at Sheffield’s Octagon Centre.

“I can’t wait,” he said. “He usually fights at middleweight so he’s had to come down a division and I’ve had to step up to meet him at light-middleweight.

“We’re struggling to find people to fight me at welterweight when there isn’t a title being put on the line. I fully understand that so we’ve looked at a different challenge.”

Singleton added: “He’s not got the best record but he’s had some good results against some decent opponents.

“I’ve watched some of his fights though and some of his draws should’ve been wins. He’s been on the wrong end of some poor decisions when being the away fighter I think.

“He comes and has a go so it should be a good test. He’s bigger than me and he fights two weights above me so we’ve looked at ways to combat that. It’s another stepping stone to push me on.”
