Skeete took the Lonsdale Belt off Sam Eggington at the Genting Arena in Birmingham in March and was set to make his first defence against the WBC International Silver supremo on November 25th at the Brentwood Centre.

With Singleton out, Edinburgh’s John Thain will now fill the void on the show which will be screened live and exclusive on BoxNation.

“I’m devastated beyond belief,” Singleton said. “It’s disastrous and I’m sick of it. It’s absolutely ruined me because of what I’ve put into the last 14 weeks.

“I’d done everything that I possibly could to prepare mentally and physically; I’ve never done as much running, sparring and training.

“It’s just a case of allowing it to heal now. Apparently Frank Warren has reported me to the BBBofC to inquire about having my mandatory shot taken away.

“Injuries happen, it’s part and parcel of being a boxer, and hopefully there’s some way around this.”

Singleton sought Joe Ormond’s expertise, with the director at Salvador Health and Recovery Ltd diagnosing a damaged bicep.

Despite attempting to remedy the injury with cupping, acupuncture, electric shock treatment, as well as other methods, the 147lb boxer faces around six weeks out.

“I’ve got a legitimate declaration to prove that I’ve got a genuine injury,” he said.

“This has done my head in and I’ve felt depressed as a result.

“Two weeks ago I was on top of the world believing that I was going to become British champion and one phone call has changed all that. I was on such a high but now I’ve been brought crashing back down to earth.”

However, Singleton remains convinced that he’s destined to become the best of British. “I’m 100% confident that I’m going to become British champion,” he said.

“I’ll have even more time to prepare now once my injury has healed. I’ll make everything even more perfect than it was.

“I will beat Bradley Skeete.

“It’s been a bad couple of weeks for me.

“It’s just been bad news. I’ll sort it out though and get back at it.

“Things like this just make me even more determined to succeed. I’ve just got to train even harder to achieve it now.”
