Two of the club’s starlets boxed in the quarter-finals at 56kg at The Lighthouse, Eccles, Manchester. Gannow’s Brett Windle (17) faced Z.Mehrban (Bolton Champions ABC) in what turned into a masterclass from the talented Burnley College student.

Straight from the opening bell, Windle took control centre ring, pushing his taller foe onto the ropes, rolling under a swinging hook. Windle worked the body with ease, ending the round well up on the scorecards. The second and third rounds continued the controlled display of the noble art, scoring at will, switching his attack from head to body frequently, picking up a unanimous verdict.

Windle now faces Manchunian J. Walsh (Northside ABC) in the semi-final tonight in Eccles, with the winner boxing tomorrow in the Regional Final.

Brendan Collins (16) narrowly lost out on a split decision against the very durable and vastly-experienced A.Clegg (Jimmy Egans ABC).
