Colne boxer (12) triumphs in Stoke-on-Trent

Colne’s latest pugilistic performer Reece ‘The Rock’ Jackson entered the squared circle recently boxing in Stoke-on-Trent against local favourite T. Sword of Hulton Abbey ABC.

The 12-year-old Sandygate ABC boxer straight from the opening bell was all over the taller Sword.

But the highly-rated Park High Year 7 pupil cut him down to size with a razor sharp lead hand and well armoured combinations off his jab.

Using well-timed body shots, Jackson’s switch of attack let the home crowd know of his intentions.

The second one and a half minute round saw Jackson box clever, moving off the lead, countering with precision and power.

The third and final round was a real wild affair, as, with Sword sensing he was behind, he threw everything in his arsenal, but was unable to penetrate Jackson’s defences.

It was no surprise at the end when the man in the middle raised the jubilant Pendle puncher’s hand.

“ I was over the moon with ‘Rocky’s’ performance, away from our region he put in a brilliant display” beamed Sandygate coach Nik Tucker.

The popular Burnley club also saw three more of its fighters win away from home with Brett Windle (13), Brandon Hartley (15) and Calum Rainey (15) all winning at Blackpool.
